A reflective somatic companion. Insight through embodiment. BAM Therapy mode mirrors physiological shifts back to you in real time — somatic awareness as a tool for emotional understanding.
Important · please read
BAM Therapy mode is not a replacement for licensed mental-health care. It is a wellness tool for somatic self-reflection between sessions. If you are in distress, please contact a qualified professional or crisis services. BAM does not diagnose, treat, or cure mental health conditions.
Common questions
How is this different from a meditation app?
BAM is biometrically aware. It knows when your heart rate jumped as you mentioned something tender, and gently mirrors that back. Other apps offer content libraries. BAM offers a feedback loop — your body becomes part of the conversation.
What techniques does BAM use in Therapy mode?
Somatic inquiry, affect labeling (name-it-to-tame-it), pendulation between activation and calm, resourcing, and cognitive reframing — drawing on the somatic-experiencing and CBT traditions. The AI companion is trained to ask more than it tells, and to validate before suggesting techniques.
Can BAM replace my therapist?
No. BAM is a tool for between-session somatic awareness and self-reflection. It is not a licensed practitioner and does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. We recommend BAM as a complement to ongoing therapy, not a replacement.
Is my voice stored?
No. Voice audio is streamed to OpenAI Realtime API for real-time processing using short-lived ephemeral session credentials. Audio is not retained on our servers and is not used to train models.
How long is a typical Therapy session?
5 to 15 minutes is typical. BAM tracks the session and offers a closing recap that summarizes your physiological journey across the session.
Will BAM tell me what I am feeling?
It offers 1 or 2 emotion labels for what you describe and asks if any fit. You stay in the driver seat. BAM never tells you what you are feeling — it offers language and waits to see what lands.
What if my biometrics spike during a hard moment?
BAM down-regulates first. Before any cognitive work, the companion offers a grounding breath or resourcing pause. Safety is the priority — insight follows.
